Mainline vs Premium Hot Wheels: what changes and who each is for

Both are Hot Wheels, both are usually 1:64, and both run down a ramp. The difference is what happens when you pick them up.
Mainline: built to be played with
Mainline cars are the ones in car packs and single blisters: a die-cast body, a durable base and plastic wheels that love a fast track. They are made to crash, get lost under the sofa and come back for another run.
Premium: built to be looked at
Premium and Car Culture castings add a metal chassis, Real Riders rubber tires and detailed, multi-color deco. Many ship in themed sets or collectible containers. They still roll — but most end up behind glass.
Formula 1: a line of its own
Our Formula 1 cars follow real team liveries under official licence, as Premium singles, team 2-packs and a grid 10-pack. Fans of a specific driver usually want the single; fans of the whole season go for the pack.
Which should you buy?
For a kid with a track: mainline packs, every time. For a teen or adult who talks about castings and card art: Premium. For both in the same house: a car pack for the floor and one Premium set for the shelf.
